Guess what! Everyone at the Joy Factory is beyond stoked to welcome our newest employee to the film fam. Take a moment to learn about Liam and don’t forget to send him a hearty welcome!

What is your name and position with the Joy Factory Films team?
Hi I’m Liam and I recently got the new cinematographer and senior editor position. Basically, I get to play with cameras and edit stuff.

Tell us about your educational and career related background.
I spent two years at film school back in New Zealand and then got picked up by a rugby company to produce training DVDs. After a few years of that, I went out on my own and did freelance work which ended up taking me here to Canada on a snowboarding trip. I fell in love with the place and decided to make the big move here! I have since been shooting weddings and creating snowboarding content until this opportunity at Joy Factory came up and the rest is history.

What is your favorite part of your job?
I love cameras, filming stuff, editing stuff… I’m a nerd. Everything about the process is fun. Haven’t actually started at Joy Factory yet so maybe I’ll fill this in once I’ve been out and about seeing how the whole crew works.

If you were the head of a major TV station for one day, what would you play?
Moon TV.

Give us some homework. What is one film (or theatrical play) that everyone needs to see?
Can I say flick on the Knowledge Network? So many good documentaries on literally everything.

At which store would you like to max out your credit card?
Vistek, as mentioned above I’m a camera nerd.

What are three things still left to do on your bucket list?
I’d love to get to Hawaii do some surfing and watch pipeline go down. Also I really want to buy a 72 Datsun fairly Z and travel the world with my little family.
