Have you heard the news? The deadline for submitting your short films to the Kamloops Independent Short Short Film Festival (aka KISS Fest) has been announced for Thursday, February 28th, 2019.

If you haven’t heard of the KISS Fest before, click here for a recap from last year’s special event! Check out this great photo of all the participants from the 2018 KISS Fest.

The 7th annual KISS Fest is part of the Kamloops Film Festival, and is a one day, free community screening of locally made films at the Paramount Theatre on Sunday, March 10th, 2019 at noon. This festival has been encouraging local filmmakers for many years to create and produce their own content, and allow a space for everyone in Kamloops to enjoy these works! With a wide variety of genres out there, you can expect to see a little bit of horror, comedy, doco-style, animations, sports-related content, and maybe even a music video or two!

No, you’re not just entering your awesome piece of film for fun – there are cash prizes involved too! We are sponsoring the 2nd place prize as well as Nathan’s favourite, the “Just Reasons” Prize — which goes to a film that is awesome for its own reasons. With up to $750.00 up for grabs, you have a shot at the Mastermind 1st Place Prize, the Thompson-Nicola Film Commission 3rd Place Prize, the Kamloops Arts Council Youth Prize, the Kamloops Film Series Jury Prize, and the Kamloops Film Festival Jury Prize, along with the KISS Fest Audience Award!
Alright, so now that you’re hooked, we’ll tell you about the rules and regulations. Your film must be under five minutes in length and each participant must reside in the Thompson-Nicola Regional District. The screening of films is a public event, so please keep that in mind when submitting films. Ensure that all permissions for copyright are secured before you submit! Any filmmaker submitting a piece must not have been paid to produce his/her film; in order words, any films submitted must be independently produced rather commercial, paid-for productions.

Fill out an entry form, available online or at the entry drop off location, bring your $10 entry fee, and your film either in a DVD format or on a USB stick in a .MOV or Quicktime File to Movie Mart, 367 St. Paul Street, Kamloops, BC. For more information about the KISS Festival, submitting a film or learning about the community screening, please visit www.kamloopsfilmfest.ca/kiss
