Nathan’s been around since the dawn of time. (But actually, his tech startup has been successfully operational for seven years in Kamloops!)

He’s the face of Joy Factory Films.

He’s our fearless leader. The one who lives and breathes Joy Factory. Oh yeah, he’s also the sarcastic guy who kind of looks like Jason Sudeikis.

What is your name and position with the Joy Factory Films team?
Nathan Froese, Owner/Manager/Accountant/Salesman/Marketer/2nd Camera/3rd Editor/Gopher.

Tell us about your educational and career related background.

I graduated from TRU in 2008 with a BBA, Major in Marketing after switching over from an Arts Degree with a Major in Math. After graduating I got a job selling season tickets for the Kamloops Blazers, leaving a year later to start the company with Joey McGarry. Other jobs I’ve had include Box Maker (Robertson Manufacturing), Line Cook (Bottoms, Bugaboo Creek, Ric’s Grill) and Bartender (Duffy’s)

What is your favorite part of your job?
I’ve loved watching the company continue to grow and succeed while adding valuable members to the team to create a functional, little film production family.

If you were the head of a major TV station for one day, what would you play?
Simpsons Season 3, Lost, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and probably some bad sci-fi movies.

Give us some homework. What is one film (or theatrical play) that everyone needs to see?
A YouTube Channel called “Every Frame A Painting.”

In what ways do you find you are the same as your childhood self?
I’m still a huge nerd, slightly socially awkward, and just awkward in general. My sense of humour is still terrible and I still get injured incredibly often and easily.

If you could change one event from history, what would it be?
The Canucks would have won the 2011 Stanley Cup.

Do you have any hilarious nicknames that you would like to share?
I’ve accumulated A LOT over the years. The first one I remember was Norm, because someone thought I looked like a Pog character called Stormin’ Norman. In Grade Eight, a bunch of Grade Ten kids started calling me Cutie, which caught on for reasons unknown. My second boss nicknamed me Chet because that’s the name he thought suited me best. Through college there was Froesen Rope, Nate-orade, Natrix and most commonly, just Froese. Recently though, Sudeikis is becoming more and more popular.

At which store would you like to max out your credit card?
I’ve maxed it out at Vistek numerous times already for the company. Personally, I would probably say either a sporting goods store or Xbox Online.

What are three things still left to do on your bucket list?
Travel the south island of New Zealand, watch the Canucks win the Stanley Cup, help create and raise a tiny human.
